2018 Community Engagement

Community Engagement is vital to a healthy and safer community. Safe Schools recognizes the importance of giving back to the community and to keep kids engaged in school and their community is simple: give back. All youth involved in our programs are encourage and provided various ways to give back to their community. In 2018 we had 918 youth participate in community engagement projects by giving 3,420 hours of community service.

The following are programs they participated in for 2018:

  • Pennies for Pets
  • March Meatball Madness Fundraiser
  • Spina Bifida Walk
  • Columbus School Clean-Up Day
  • Utica College Play for Hope Fundraiser
  • Utica College Sponsored Cleaning and Painting Day for our Agency
  • Valentine's Day Card making for local Hospitals and Senior Centers
  • Houghton College Book Exchange
  • Oneida County Intergenerational Fall and Spring Clean-up
  • Holiday Food Drives
  • Halloween Pumpkin Giveaways
  • Utica Police Department Public Safety Training
  • Promote Black History Month through school-based projects
  • Promoting Tolerance in School projects
  • Earth Day projects at school
  • Sending Holiday Cards to Nursing Homes
  • Collecting bottles/cans for the Rescue Mission
  • Support and volunteer at Agency Build-A-Bike annual event
